tExtended Conversations Series: TAlly weijl
We are back this week with our Conversation series, where we meet project partners and we discuss about their work in tExtended. This time we are bringing you our talk with David Alonso Gómez, Head of Sustainability at Tally Weijl, a fashion label based in Switzerland, where we discussed both challenges and innovations of the project.
Thanks for speaking to us today. Could you start by introducing yourself and telling us where you are based?
I am a Chemistry working in the textile industry for more than 12 years. I am based in Basel, Switzerland, working as Head of Sustainability in Tally Weijl.
Can you tell us something about the task that you are specifically working on in tExtended?
Tally Weijl serves as an end user of the new recycled materials developed in tExtended. We will design and manufacture new garments using the tExtended new materials and study its performance, quality and compliance within the fashion sector. At the same time, we provide insights on the textile industry in the Industrial Exploitation Group in order to promote a more circular business model reshaping and/or creating new value chains.
What do you like the most about working on this project?
The diversity of backgrounds and partners. It helps to approach the challenge from different perspectives and achieve a solution that fits all stakeholders.
What makes your organization ideal for participating in the research/activities of tExtended?
Change and innovation is in the roots of Fashion. We are always looking for new paths to move forward with new innovative solutions.
What do you see as the biggest challenge for tExtended?
I would say that main challenge is to scale up the textile supply chain according to the solutions developed in tExtended. We all expect tExtended Blueprint to become a reference to promote and stimulate Circularity in the Textile industry.
What is one key thing you have learned from working on tExtended so far?
Cooperation, appropriate communication channels and diversity help to maximize the outcome.
How would you describe tExtended with three words only?
Cooperation leads to success.
