The aim of this demo was to carry out open-end spinning trials of mechanically recycled fibers received from PurFi. The ratios used were: 75% r /25% v-CO (~Ne 11), 50% r /50% v-CO (~Ne 18), and 25% r /75% v-CO (~Ne 27); where the recycled content (r) refers to the PurFi fibres and v-CO to virgin cotton. Spinning trials were run using six fibres : Cotton, Cotton-Long, Cotton/Polyester, Acryl White, Acryl Mix, Meta Aramide Black.

The fibres and yarns have been characterised by CITEVE to test the technical feasibility of the process.
