Textile sorting activity (waste sorting game) – Portugal (15 July 2025)
To raise awareness among children about textile waste, the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), and correct sorting/collection routes through an interactive, hands-on game.
How has the activity been organized:
A facilitator-led session at the ATL, combining a short introduction with a practical sorting game. Participants classified textile items into simple categories (e.g., keep/use longer, repair/reuse, donate, recycle), followed by a short debrief linking choices to circularity.
What was achieved and what that learned
Lesson learnt: simple categories and visual examples work best for this age group.
High engagement and participation through a hands-on format. Participants demonstrated improved understanding of what can be reused, repaired or directed to dedicated collection points.
Future visions
Replicate the activity in other ATL/schools as part of CITEVE outreach toolkits, with minor improvements (clearer labels and a short take-home message on local collection options).
